Learning and development
At Clyde & Co, we believe that a commitment to learning and development is central to the growth of our greatest asset: our people.
Support network
As a trainee solicitor, you will be supported throughout your training contract from the day you join.
Our Learning and Development team will support you through the different elements of the Professional Skills Course as well as the departmental induction at the start of each seat.
During each seat, you will be assigned a supervisor - either a Partner or senior Solicitor - who will be responsible for your career development.
You will also have a dedicated Trainee Solicitor Manager during the two years who will meet with you on a regular basis to discuss your progress, seat options and career aims.
Diverse programme
Close personal supervision and coaching through day-to-day work are complemented by a wide-ranging programme of lectures, seminars, courses, workshops and educational visits.
By offering our own bespoke Professional Skills Course (PSC) - in conjunction with three other law firms - we are able to tailor the programme to focus on areas which are of particular relevance to working at a leading international law firm.
For example, one unique aspect of the PSC at Clyde & Co is the opportunity to spend two-and-a-half days at the Royal Courts of Justice, taking part in advocacy training with experienced barristers - an inside view which is typical of the way in which our programme is run.
We also draw on our highly experienced workforce to share their insight and knowledge in different subject areas, helping to ensure a consistently high standard in all aspects of the PSC.
Skill set
Our training has a broad focus because we recognise that commercial appreciation and understanding businesses and objectives are critical to our clients, as well as to your own career success.
The international nature of Clyde & Co's practice is reflected in our regular lectures and seminars on legal systems and doing business around the globe. We also ensure trainees are equipped with a full range of practical ‘soft' skills, from IT expertise to effective networking.
By training with Clyde & Co, you will develop the skill set, commercial awareness and confidence to ensure the future of your legal career.
