After qualifying

Clyde & Co recruits trainee solicitors with a view to securing their long-term futures at our firm. We are proud of our 89% retention rate of trainees as newly qualified solicitors in 2007.

Partnership approach

Beyond qualification, Clyde & Co remains fully committed to supporting your learning and development at all stages of your career. We work with you to ensure that training reflects your needs and is focused on achieving your goals. We also encourage our staff to take responsibility for their own development by working in partnership with us.

Continuing Professional Development

In the UK, the Law Society requires all full-time practising solicitors to complete a minimum of 16 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) per year, of which at least 25% must involve participation in accredited training courses.

In 2006, our lawyers completed on average more than double the minimum number of CPD hours stipulated by the Law Society. They were involved in a wide range of courses, workshops and other developmental programmes that reflect the diversity of our people and our firm.

Long-term thinking

Once they have achieved four years of post-qualification experience, our solicitors attend a Development Centre at which they can identify in detail their areas of strength and areas for improvement within their overall skill set. They can then draw up a bespoke programme of ongoing professional development that will ensure their ongoing momentum in the next stages of their career.
