Assessment and interview

Once you have completed and sent us your application, a member of our Trainee Solicitor Recruitment Team will look through it carefully.

Assessment morning

If we decide that you meet our initial criteria, you will be invited in to attend an assessment morning. This involves an interview with a member of our Human Resources team, a written case study, a verbal reasoning test and a personality questionnaire.

You will also meet with some of our current trainees and have a tour of the office. The morning normally lasts around 3.5 hours.

Interview

If you are successful at this stage, you will be invited back to the offices for a second interview with two of the firm's Partners. This normally takes around 45 minutes to 1 hour. For some ideas on how to prepare for interviews, visit www.lawcareers.net/Information/Features/Detail.aspx?r=1289.

We aim to let you know the outcome of your interviews as soon as we can but at most within a week of your interview.

We are happy to reimburse all travel expenses to interviews up to a limit of £100 (second class/economy travel). We are also happy to reimburse you for any overnight stay in a hotel, should you need to arrive the night before your interview.

Offer

Once you have been offered a training contract, and before you choose to accept, we invite you to come back in and meet some trainees over lunch and see our offices again. This gives you plenty of opportunity to find out more about us, ask the right questions and make the right decision!

It is our policy, therefore, not to put a deadline on our offers earlier than the Law Society recommendation of 1 October. Again, this allows you plenty of time to consider your position and make the right choice.
