In our London office, our trainee solicitors enjoy the experience of cutting-edge work in one of the financial capitals of the world.

Breadth of work

London offers a diverse range of transactions and disputes, and our client portfolio reflects this, from the insurance and re-insurance impacts of major global events such as Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 to the purchase of major assets such as ships and aircraft. We have clients with major property portfolios and we are at the forefront of M&A work in the insurance, trade and energy sectors.

As a trainee, you will complete seats in both the London and Guildford offices, which work in close partnership. Between them, they offer a full range of corporate and commercial legal services to both national and international clients.

Leading the field

There is a wealth of expertise gathered in our London office that trainees can learn from in whatever seat they undertake. For example, we have one of the largest dedicated international trade and energy teams in the UK, which has been working with leading energy multinationals for over 20 years.

In 2007, Clyde & Co won the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade for its successful export of legal services, in particular the doubling of export earnings during the last six years.

We are currently advising the Government of Yemen in the establishment of a national oil company and the assumption of operations in a major oil field, including major pipeline and transportation assets, valued at several USD billion. This is the largest arbitration in the International Chamber of Commerce.

There is a high level of professionalism in the firm, and across our international offices. Although we deal with high-value complex projects, there is an open and supportive atmosphere in which you'll be encouraged to meet the challenge and take on responsibility.

Of course it's not all work. The London office is well-known for its wide range of social and sporting activities - anything from running the London Marathon to quiz nights!
